The Conjunction
When Worlds Collided
1,500 years before the saga of Geralt of Rivia, the world was mundane. There were no ghouls in the crypts, no griffins in the skies, and no magic in the air. The Elder Races—Elves and Dwarves—lived in relative peace.
The Cataclysm
Then came the Conjunction of the Spheres. It was a cosmic collision of parallel universes. For a brief moment, the barriers between realities shattered. Through these rifts poured creatures from other dimensions: vampires, ogres, and the spectral Wild Hunt.
The Arrival of Humans
But monsters were not the only invaders. Humans arrived during the Conjunction. Fleeing a destroyed world of their own, they landed on the Continent and did what humans do best: they conquered. They learned to harness the chaotic energy left behind by the Conjunction—Magic—and used it to slaughter the Elder Races and claim the land.
The Creation of Witchers
With the world now infested with multidimensional predators, humanity needed a defense. Mages experimented on children, subjecting them to the Trial of the Grasses. They mutated their bodies, stripped them of emotion, and created the Witchers: professional monster slayers designed to survive in a world that wasn't meant to exist.
